A Whole Day At The Museum

A Whole Day At The Museum
On Thursday 18th of September Class 6, 7 and 8 went on a trip to the museum. We took a bus to the museum and it felt like we were taking a road trip because the museum was in the city.

When we got there Ruth welcomed us into the museum, it looked like a massive bank with a huge amount of money. When we got inside there were two schools that came in before us. We went to sit down and get some rules. When we finished listening to the rules we had to put our bags in cages. Class 6 and 7 went to do a 2 hour maori programme. Then our teacher Mr. Somerville told us to get into groups of four or five and my group was Henry, Levi, Maurice and my parent helper my mum and we could go everywhere we wanted.

Where we went to explore first was a volcano room it showed an example what it would be like when you're in a volcanic eruption and how would it feel like and some rock music were you just hit with a hammer and it makes a beautiful sound. Then we moved on to another room and explored more and more until it was time for us to go to the marae and do some fun Maori activities like find what will catch our kai (food) and how it attracts it and what it is made of.

We had all that adventure and now we finished all our energy for Friday, we were all tired now we all can go home and go to sleep.

Creative Oak Tree Writing

Today in class we have been doing creative writing. We had to write a sentence about this picture. As a class we chose the sentence we liked to best and then added to it. Here is my sentence and the sentence I added to.

My reading group have been reading a book called Ika Moana. It is about 2 people going on a tour on a boat to look at whales. The people that have been whaling have stopped because there are very few whales left in countries

Did you know that sperm whales can communicate by clicking noises and sperm whales use the clicking noise just to find there prey and there pod, and they can grow up to 18.5 meters long wow! Sperm Whales can weigh about 57 tonnes wow that is pretty heavy.

Use My Brain, Use My Heart, I'm Going To Be Cybersmart !

Use my brain, Use my heart, I'm going to be
Cybersmart !

Use my brain, use my heart, I'm going to be cyber smart is a korero. It is to help people that are being dodgy during learning time and doing the wrong thing like playing music when your not suppose too.

Use my brain means think twice about what you’re doing, what is going to happen and make your decision if you want to do the wrong thing or the right thing. Use your brain like it is something that you can control.

Use my heart means that if you're doing a bad thing and feeling like someone is looking at you, and is going to tell on someone. Using my heart is using the way you feel in the right direction instead of the wrong direction.

Being cyber smart means that you think about the footprint that you’re leaving behind. For example when you go to play an online game, you do not put down other people playing otherwise you might get reported, for putting down other players.

How this korero can help you, is that it helps you stop going the wrong way instead of the right way, which means listen to your brain, listen to your feelings and leave a smart footprint. Go the right way instead of the wrong way!
